Confident Oman face Zimbabwe in friendly

Date - 10 Sep 2008
Description -

After their impressive performance in a goalless draw against Morocco on Saturday, a confident Oman national soccer team will take on Zimbabwe in a friendly match at the ROP Stadium today. The match is scheduled to kick off at 10.15 pm. The Morocco and Zimbabwe friendlies were arranged by the Oman Football Association (OFA) as part of the Sultanate squad’s preparations for the 19th Gulf Cup to be hosted in Muscat next January.

The Oman team, under new French coach Claude Le Roy, impressed one and all with a fighting display against the Moroccans on Saturday. Like the Morocco match, Le Roy will in all probablity field the first team against Zimbabwe today. The availability of all professional players, including Bolton Wanderer’s goalkeeper Ali al Habsi, has given coach Le Roy the opportunity to try out his 4-4-2 system against Morocco and it will be the same in today’s match as well. The gate fees are fixed at RO 3 and RO 1. The tickets are available at Shell Select outlets and OFA office at Seeb Stadium.omanobserver
